Memory Boost: Documenting events enhances memory.
Writing as many things as you want in your journal is an act of gratitude and this can have a big impact on your health and happiness.
In yogi terms this is called practices for Ahimsa. Ahimsa means non-violence. I.e. doing no harm to self or others - physical or emotional. Journaling gratitude is one of the balanced practices in life. Others include: speaking with integrity, not getting involved in gossips, being patient with self & others and enjoying the present moment.
In the beginning, practicing these attributes can be a rollercoaster ride, but with self-determination and self-motivation, you can find your balanced self.

Work towards creating balance in all aspects of life
Practice journaling, self-care and mediation daily
Face your fears with no judgement
Show care for the environment and get involved with communities around you
