Do you feel cold and shiver due to stress? Here’s what to do!

When your body encounters stress, it can respond by becoming cold and shiver. I’ve felt it and trust me managing stress triggered by your surroundings can be very daunting.

The shivering reaction is part of the "fight-or-flight" response, triggered by the release of stress hormones such as adrenaline. Additionally, stress causes blood vessels to constrict, reducing the blood flow in your body causing coldness.

What do you do in such situations?

Here are some tips to manage the feeling of cold and shivering due to stress:

1. Deep Breathing: Practice deep breathing exercises to calm your nervous system and reduce stress.

2. Stay Warm: Wear layers of clothing to keep your body warm and prevent shivering.

3. Physical Activity: Engage in light physical activity or go for a walk to increase blood circulation and warm up your body.

4. Hydration: Drink warm beverages like green tea to maintain body temperature and comfort.

5. Mindfulness and Relaxation: Use mindfulness techniques, such as meditation or progressive muscle relaxation, to reduce overall stress levels.

6. Balanced Diet: Ensure you're eating a balanced diet, as proper nutrition can help regulate your body's response to stress.

7. Sleep: Prioritise getting enough sleep, as rest is crucial for managing stress.

8. Professional Help: If stress and its physical symptoms are overwhelming, consider speaking with a mental health professional for additional support and strategies.

It’s mental health month. Spread the awareness. Spread love and kindness!
