The practice of mantra has long been associated with spiritual healing.
Mantras can be used to focus your mind, increase your concentration, and calm your emotions.
In my recent chapter in Hatha yoga study, I learnt about three types of Mantra.
Beej (Seed) : The beej mantra correlate to the 7 chakras and to the main Hindu dieties. (I listen/practice this one)
Saguna : deity mantras because they on the form of the divine/god in order to manifest their power
Nirguna : considered the oldest mantra, this one is difficult to interpret. This one is recommended for more advanced students as they are not only difficult but can also be difficult to concentrate on.
